courtyard timer need reduction?
what is everyone's opinion about courtyard being 10 minutes long?
just as halls was you seem to wait for at least 6 minutes before anything important happens, you just seem to eye eachother up figuring out the other team builds and your strategy.
imo it shouldnt take you a minute to do this, and theres always the opinion that by reducing the timer you dont get that advantage at all.
i think a 4-5 minute battle is enough for courtyard, any longer just seems to be a waste. itl also make for more action packed viewing
what does everyone think? i thought the hoh timer reduction was a good idea so why not courtyard
yes or no to a timer reduction?

there has ben the odd occasion where something fun/funny happens while people are sitting getting bored of waiting.
i remember having a dance at the altar with another team while we waited as we all knew capping before 4 minutes would just mean you would lose.
it just doesnt happen enough for it to warrant a 10 minute time limit.

Hopefully this will cut down on ganking too because there's not 6 minutes to just do whatever you want and still have plenty of time to kill the team off the altar if you know you're better than they are.

It wouldn't hurt, but reducing the time of that map means the whole system of HA timing and match-ups would need to get re-worked, again. I don't see it happening anytime soon, and besides, I enjoy the change of pace. It gives us time to all-chat spike and flame the opposing builds.

how does it affect the "whole system of HA timing and match-ups" ? Even Broken Tower and Relics work fine when you win the game before the timer runs out...

I agree that the time should be reduced, however, I think that maybe a 6 minute timer, not 4 minutes like halls, would be better. Courtyard is a much more dynamic map, and allowing time for priest killing, ganking, and more DPing so and so's team would allow the map to keep its strategy requirements but not be so boring.

The whole 10min is good fun imo, ganking the cocky teams always makes for entertainment.

Yeah, when i have plenty of time that day, I enjoy running up on the altar, wolfing the other 2 teams, and running back. But, let me get to the point. I would prefer 5 or 6 minute courtyard because half the time i'm too lazy to sit there for 7 or 8 minutes. I mean, while my guild gets to courtyard, immdediately after the load in i will say, "Ok, i'm going on gw guru." And others will be like, "I'm going to check my e-mail." and, "Be right back, bathroom break." So once you think about it its kind of ridiculous.

lol something pretty funny happened in courtyard the other day. It consisted of some1 from the other team saying he was a "ninja" and tried to aggro my team. He got in the middle of us, and tried 2 teleport out, but his teleportation skill got interupted. He died instantly.
I like the ten minute courtard, almost as fun as the vault.

I love the courtyard length because it really does allow for the closest thing to GvG in HA. Manuevering, trying to gank the priests. Plus spiking on that map for the first 8 minutes is so fun.

I wouldn't say its "good," considering sometimes you will wait for a minute just for the timer to pop up, which then tells you have another 3 minutes to wait.
Otherwise, courtyard is a pillar in a sea of match-up confusion. It's what seems to be most skipped to and least often missed, so Anet is likely not going to change it just due to some little inconveniences.

Courtyard is 10 minutes because there are things to do during that time. In HoH, what can you do? rush in and get pwnt in a 3-way free-for-all. In courtyard, you can sneak around back and kill a priest, or a ghost
Also keep in mind that in HoH the defending team (blue) has an advantage because they don't have to initially cap an altar. The 4 minute timer applies pressure and reduced that advantage. In courtyard, nobody starts with the altar, so the 10 minutes can be used to have a little cap war. (it's hard to give all 3 groups a chance to cap when there are only 4 minutes).
Maybe a reduction down to 8 minutes won't be so bad, but no less.

So true, Courtyard is the official bathroom break match.
6 or 7 minute would be good, it would reduce the 2v1 gank, fun when you are on the gank team, but annoying as hell when you are the one whose priest just died and your ghost's corpse has just been made into a well of profane... Not to mention how EVERY SINGLE High ranked guild (iA, RenO, etc etc) will just straight up gank a team off the bat, and the team who wasn't ganked ends up getting an easy win as they aren't unranked vimway.

usually its the top guild that gets ganked and not the pug groups.
6 minutes would be nice... enought time to gank/kill priest and kill the teams...

What about instead of reducing the timer, at the start of the match all teams Ghostly Heroes immediately run towards the altar and attempt to cap?
Might make the fighting start a little earlier than the 3 min mark.
